Premises-Based VPN allows businesses to build upon current investments
by providing dedicated, broadband, and remote access solutions for connection to
the AT&T global network or the Internet. These Premises-Based VPNs are
delivered by adding intelligent devices such as firewalls or VPN tunneling
terminating at your business's edge and a connection is established by programming
appropriate levels of network security, user access control, and bandwidth prioritization.
Premises-Based VPN utilizes Internet Security Protocol (IPSec) or Secure
Sockets Layer (SSL) to prevent data tampering and help ensure the confidentiality,
integrity, and authenticity of your data communications.
IPSec is a set of security protocols that determines data security at the
network layer for IP networks, including methods for network authentication, data
encryption, and integrity checking. This comprehensive tunneling standard for VPNs
protects data end-to-end, from the remote user or desktop to the LAN (terminating
branch).
SSL, an application layer encryption protocol, allows secure access to and from
user devices located outside of traditional enterprise boundaries. Ideal for
clientless access to web-enabled applications, as well as access to client-server
applications, and provides a simplified, efficient way for you to roll out an IP
VPN for remote access applications. For remote access environments, SSL secures two
applications communicating with each other, while IPSec secures an entire network
or secures one network to another.
- Dial access is available using the dedicated global infrastructure,
supporting PSTN (analogue), GSM and ISDN, with the option to bundle up to 4
lines/channels for improved access speed
- Remote Access Services for wireless offers direct wireless
connection to your VPN via designated operator network
- Wireless (WiFi) hotspots cover typical traveling user locations such as
hotels, airports, or convention centers.
- Broadband, dial and wireless single user configurations use the Global Network Client to handle the security (tunneling & encryption). This
client includes a personal firewall to protect the workstation.
- IPSec and firewall implementation is at the lowest possible level to
prevent any application by-passing the security features.

Firewall Security Services provide network security functions that are
essential for any company implementing Internet-based internetworking.
Firewall Security Services integrate with IP VPN and Internet Access Services
and give you the flexibility to configure a solution according to your specific
business requirements. For coverage tailored to your needs, we have an array
of firewall configurations including network-based, premises-based and personal
firewalls, designed for maximum performance and business continuity.
- Network-Based Firewall moves firewall functionality into
the network infrastructure and provides highly secure connections for
Frame Relay, ATM, IP-Enabled Frame Relay, IP-Enabled
ATM or EVPN. No additional CPE is required. The
service will continuously inspect and treat inbound and outbound traffic
according to your predefined security policies. You can select your company's
required bandwidth allocation for Internet access through the firewall.
- Premises-Based Firewall is a fully managed firewall
solution which includes all hardware and software components, configuration,
installation, day to day management and maintenance, as well as expert customer
support and proactive network monitoring. You can choose from four
configurations: Cisco IOS® Firewall feature on Cisco router, Checkpoint® on
Nokia, Checkpoint® on Sun Server, and Cisco PIX® Firewall. All configurations
let you define your own security policy and tailor the solution to the size
of your user base and enforce security policy on each interface of the firewall.
- Personal Firewall is available to remote access users
subscribing to Premises-Based VPN Service and Business
Internet Service. The Personal Firewall, which is integrated with the
Global Network Client, receives security policy information from
servers located at Internet Data Centers. The customer-defined
security policy is populated into these centrally managed servers which push
out the policy to subscribers. The service also includes a number of reports as
well as enforcement of anti-virus updates and software patches.
